Where did Microsoft Office Single Image come from? - Microsoft Community.Question Info

Where did it come from and why is it there? I haven't done a new install of Office for some time and from what I can tell that program applies to IT Pros and multiple machine and version installs, none of which applies to me. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. So why did it show up on my computer this week?

Btw, with Safari on an iPad Mini, this email link to this thread is being redirected from answers. Office Single Image is the name of the installation file used by factory to install the Office free trial.

It is called 'single image' because unlike every other installer it may be activated by any one of the 3 consumer product keys: Home and Student, Home and Business or Professional. The applications not part of the bundle are left not activated. I am guessing that as a home machine you bought it at a retail store. That would logically include the Single Image free trial.

Have you done a Windows 10 Refresh or Reset? That would explain why the Single Image "magically" re-appeared. The last install was after my last clean install of Win 8.

I'm forgetting if that was earlier this year or a year ago. I did the free upgrade to Win 10 Pro in July. I don't think I've done an in-place repair install of Win 10 since then, though it's possible memory for that isn't what it used to be.

It wasn't recent if I did, and certainly not this week. If Single Image was on my computer before now, I've never noticed it or encountered it, and it doesn't make sense for it to be here - this is a home built machine and all my Windows and Office versions over the past 20 years have been retail.

Go into Programs and Features and look for a second installation of Office , specifically Home and Student, in addition to Single Image. Before you uninstall you might want to check to see if any "Pro" applications are installed but not activated trial expired.

You would probably find Outlook, Access and Publisher, they are part of the single image install. Yes, it's a puzzle. Then use Revo to uninstall Single Image. In reply to Rohn's post on November 11, In reply to highstream's post on November 11, Where single image came from remains a puzzle to me too. Once upon a time I had Office Pro , but that was several clean installs and hardware changes ago. They must have arrived in other ways.
